Beast of Burden

Horse Skull (deux)

blockprint on vintage paper and vintage book cover with hand-stitching.
4 x 7 "

I am fascinated by skulls and bones. Horse's skulls have an elongated elegance. There is an inherent symmetry to them.

Seven Years

We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

-Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Ulysses (66-70) 1833

I remember how vividly blue the September sky was that day. And today the sky seems to be the same impossible blue.

One Art Show

Some exciting news. My friend and fellow artist Amanda Atkins is the featured artist for the show hosted by Glovebox and One Home Many Hopes. There will be an entire wall devoted to the funky folk portraits by Amanda. Both original paintings and prints will be available for sale to benefit this great charity.

I am also doing an exciting installation piece involving chairs. More details to come.

Enormous Tiny Art Show

This Friday is the opening for the Enormous Tiny Art Show IV at Nahcotta Gallery on Congress Street in Portsmouth, NH.

The Enormous Tiny Art Show features 44 artists from around the country, including my friend and fellow artist Ann Kirchner, and my Carte Postale series (all ten of them!)

Also, an entire site devoted to the Enormous Tiny Art shows is coming soon at www.enormoustinyart.com

Friday, Sept. 5th is also a great evening to be in Portsmouth, NH. The whole town is organized for "Art Around Town" featuring art walks, gallery openings, and tastings.

Friend and fellow artist (and Glovebox co-founder) Jodie (Baehre) Mcnemamin's series All Saints Way II is being featured at Three Graces Gallery, on Market Street, Portsmouth.

So if you are in the area, take advantage of a great night and some great art.
